Wellies are now needed to access Lyle and Nelson-Lyle hides.  We have had to close Friends and Reedbed hides today due to increasing water levels on the footpaths leading to them.

Water levels are increasing but the swan feeds and hare walks are continuing as normal.

There is still a spit of land seen from the main observatory where the flock of black-tailed godwits, lapwing and dunlin are still present.  Increased water levels towards the back of the reserve are making this a great area to spot goldeneye.  The evening feeds are the best time of day to see good numbers of swans on the reserve as most of them are back from feeding in the fields all day.  Some swans stay on the reserve all day and are present at the daytime feeds where they are joined by hundreds of pochard, mallard and a few tufted ducks.

Please note that the photography basement is also now closed until the water levels drop.
