Wellies by Nick Cottrell
Wellies by Nick Cottrell

Wellies are now needed to access the Reedbed hide.  The summer walk and dragonfly ponds have been closed due to water levels increasing.

There are still plenty of birds to see, with the increasing water levels forcing the wading birds closer to the hides to take advantage of the higher ground.  A good flock of black-tailed godwits and lapwing have been on the main lagoon all day, with ruff, curlew and snipe also spotted.

Plenty of wigeon are feeding in amongst the whooper swans and geese on the remaining potatoes, before these are too submerged to reach.  There are also good numbers of teal, shoveler and pintail seen from most hides as well as increasing numbers of pochard on the main lagoon.
