Latest Sightings

On a lovely crisp and sunny day our winter visitors have started to arrive, with over 7,000 Pink-footed Geese to be seen at the back of the Mere and a Snow Goose seen on Plover Field fro the path to Rees Hide, The last Snow Goose seen at Martin Mere was in 2016, a good sighting for the site.

From our Discovery Hide and on the Mere 8 Gadwall, 1 Shelduck, 15 Snipe, 1 Shoveler, 1 Kestral, 8 Wigeon, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 4 Marsh Harriers, 3 Pintail, 10 Cormorant, a Hobby have been seen today.

At Gordon Taylor Hide 7 Cattle Egrets. A Barnacle Goose has been spotted from Harrier Hide.

Passing through and seen from the carpark were 4 Redwings, flocks of Skylarks, Meadow Pipits,Swallows and House Martins.
