On our WeBS (Wetland Bird Survey) this week on Mon 20 Dec volunteer Andrew saw two Bewick's swan on the Burpham loop. Shelducks were showing on Arun Riverlife, Scrape and Ramsar hides. Andrew also record 6 snipe at the Scrape hide. Tufties, gadwall and pochard were all recorded with some water rail ad cattle egrets too.
Scrape hide: a pair of shelduck, 24 greylag geese, and 6 male and 4 female wigeon. 13 male and 5 female mallards
Arun Riverlife: 1 grey heron, 3 shelducks
Tranquil trail: 2 mistle thrush. 3 bullfinches, 1 water rail
Wet grassland: 1 male and 2 female shoveler, 1 grey heron
Tundra pen: 1 snipe
Sand Martin hide: 2 male and 4 female shoveler, 5 male and 3 female teal
Scrape hide: a pair of gadwall, a pair of shelducks, 62 greylag geese, 1 kingfisher
Arun Riverlife: 127 Canada geese, 29 greylag geese, 6 shelduck, 12 tufted ducks
Wood loop: 7 long-tailed tits, 1 water rail, 7 chaffinch, 4 goldfinches, 3 great tits
Arun Riverlife: 2 pochards
Wetland Discovery: 1 moorhen, 7 mallards, 2 coots, 5 goldfinches, 2 blackbirds, 3 black-headed gulls, 2 long-tailed tits, 1 chaffinch
Lapwing hide: 1 little egret
Ramsar hide: 1 water rail
Scrape hide: 2 wigeon, 1 kingfisher
Wetland Discovery: 1 merlin
Ramsar hide: 1 water rail
Scrape hide: 3 snipe, 29 Canada geese, 11 shelducks, 2 teal, and 7 greylag geese
Wood loop: 2 coots, 7 blue tit, 1 great tit, 1 water rail, 1 chaffinch, 1 gold crest
Arun Riverlife: 24 Canada geese, 12 greylag geese, 9 shelduck
