Autumnal sunshine
This morning was bathed in lovely autumnal sunshine and lots of warblers were making the most of the warmth as they fed along the Holden Walkway hedgerow. A flock of Long-tailed Tit working its way along the hedgerow included at least 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest and a Blackcap.
Rushy Hide
A Spotted Redshank, Curlew Sandpiper and 2 Ruff were on the lower pond with a single Redshank. A second Curlew Sandpiper was on the Tack Piece just over the fence, but management work out here today will probably move the bird back to the Rushy. A total of 257 Teal were also counted and a Kingfisher was flitting between the Rushy and the Martin Smith pool.

South Lake Hides
The Black-tailed Godwit were broken up into several small groups but ultimately numbered 57 birds. Other waders included 22 Redshank, 62 Lapwing and 9 Snipe, the latter showing well from the Hogarth Hide. Three drake Pochard were on the deep lake amongst the duck which included over 150 Shoveler.

Zeiss Hide
A Greenshank was feeding on the scrape along with 3 Ruff and 100+ Lapwing. A juvenile Sedge Warbler was foraging in the reedbed and at least 3 Cetti's Warblers were calling from around the Top New Piece. Duck included 100+ Wigeon, 20+ Pintail and several hundred Teal.

Kingfisher Hide
The two Brent Geese and the Red-breasted Goose were still with the Barnacle Goose flock this morning on the Bottom New Piece.

Holden Tower
As well as the warblers in the hedgerow, other birds of note included a Marsh Harrier sat on one of its usual posts and a Peregrine sat on the mudflats in the river. Two Skylark flew past.
