Wildlife sightings for 27th September 2020
First Bittern of the Autumn on the main lake North shore.
1 Bittern - main lake North shore (best viewed from Dulverton Hide)
1 Stonechat - main lake (in front of Headley Hide)
2 Snipe - wader scrape
3 Meadow Pipit - grazing marsh
7 Chiffchaff - South route, sheltered lagoon, wildside
1 Peregrine - perched on the hospital
2 Sparrowhawk - wildside
1 Grey Wagtail - world wetlands
Dragonflies: (late September) Common Blue Damselfly, Emperor Dragonfly, Willow Emerald Damselfly, Common Darter, Ruddy Darter, Migrant Hawker (photo below)
Wildflowers: (late September) Tufted Vetch, Lady's Bedstraw, Bird's-foot Trefoil, Yarrow, Purple Loosestrife, Flowering Rush, Field Scabious, Devil's-bit Scabious, Wild Carrot.
Reptiles: (19th September survey) Slow worms (11 juveniles, 25 female, 2 male); 2 Grass snakes; 2 Common Lizard.
